Process.
The Problem: Client wants a website for a healthy cafe that is open early til late to serve busy, time crunched business people who work in the downtown core.
The Process: Create a concept, strategy, User Personas created based on participant research, site map, create mobile and full website wire frames, select colors, imagery, and create a stand out logo, then finally generate full clickable prototypes with InVision.
The Solution: A modern website to order breakfast, dessert and drink options online, to either pick up or have it delivered.

Why did I design this?
Any given weekend you can find me at a Cafe, either with friends or working on design. Through my UX/UI Design course we were asked to design a website that involved an Order now page. Since I love Cafe’s so much, I chose to design the Common Grounds Cafe.
Overall Design choices.
The logo came to me one sleepless night, the coffee beans create a heart shape and are different shades of brown on purpose, so that everyone could feel welcome here. The font for the logo is a bit of a carefree script font I found on 1001fonts.
I chose “Common Grounds Cafe” for the name because its a little bit tongue and cheek. We invite “Common” (all) people to enjoy the Cafe and “Grounds” like ground beans of delicious coffee.
The colors are all neutral earth tones. They induce a feeling of a calm mood. I think these colors are very inviting to all ages and sexes.
I spent over a week researching similar sites from my city and also all over the world. Choosing the best attributes of each site to create my own.
The font is Raleway. It is a modern, clean and slightly hip font. I really liked the various weights.
