The brief -

The Client, a local Hypnotist contacted me after finding me on Facebook. They were looking for a set of three posters that could be used to advertise their business. The posters needed to be eye catching, fun and showcase a few different styles. They will be displayed at different events, such as school shows, fairs, theaters and corporate fundraisers.

They were adamant on a steampunk theme, pyramids, and mechanical aspects. This was quite the mash up and a head scratcher. I started off simple with a black minimalist poster for more corporate events, for an easy win. The other two I began to just find images and build collages, stacking things on top of each other and manipulating layers.

The client really liked the look of the second poster I created shown here.

They wanted a date, time and location space, so they could easily print endless amounts of posters and just fill in the information as needed.

The biggest challenge of this project was getting the Client to provide me with proper photos. In future I plan to delegate photo poses and suggest backgrounds that will help make my work a little easier. Live and learn.

In this project I also discovered Canva “shudder” has an excellent delete background feature in the Pro version, so that was a great find!

I look forward to working with this Client again in the future to create show backdrops and banners,

The Clients’ old versions of their poster, logo and banner. They already had established a look, color palette and logo. I took what was existing and made it modern with a twist.

The colors were already establish, pink and light blue. Colors I don’t often work with but I made them work together seamlessly. Using two different fonts per poster worked really well to add to quirkiness of the pieces but made sure they were legible as well. Client loved the selection of fonts!
